The Bible and the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit Flows From Your Hollow

“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.

Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.

 John 7:37–39, NIV

My Greek-English dictionaries [1] point out that the word used for “within them” (koiliascan mean heart, feelings, desires. It can refer your belly, or more commonly, your womb.

But literally, it means, “hollow”.

So, one way to think this verse as you’re developing your awareness of Holy Spirit is this: When you come to Jesus, He puts the Holy Spirit in the hollow He built within you. This hollow is your heart, feelings, and desires. Moreover, it is your womb: the part of you that gives birth to other things. Come to Jesus so that Holy Spirit can flow from this place that He put within you.

It’s the part of you that gives birth to things. Come to Jesus so that Holy Spirit can flow from here.
