The Bible and the Holy Spirit

Do I Focus Too Much on The Spirit?

Across the church body, the credit we give Holy Spirit for the work He does differs significantly. In some quarters is He is “the forgotten member of the Trinity,” while in other denominations, an entire service can seem only to be focusing him Him.

In this exercise, we are focusing on Spirit’s activity in our bodies. Is that unbalanced?

Is it weird to focus on His activity inside our hearts?

Listen to Paul talk about this:

[God] put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

[The New International Version. (2011). (2 Co 1:22). Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan.

So when we pay attention to Spirit inside us, we are reminding ourselves what is to come: God’s plan to establish His Kingdom and give people eternal life with Themselves: the Three-In-One Trinity.

We know that God owns us because the Holy Spirit is His downpayment
2 Cor 1:22 says God put his seal of ownership on us, and Spirit is the downpayment.
